NIHIL ist ein elektroakustisches A/V Projekt, das sich mit dem Thema Nichts, im Sinne von nichts sein oder nicht sein können, beschäftigt. Was passiert, wenn das Nichts unsere das Sein frisst und uns raus aus dem Spiel lässt? NIHIL ist ein sehr guter Lehrer, sagen Buddhismus und Schamanismus, aber nur wenn man es akzeptiert und es verwandelt. In diesem Album drucke ich die alchemistische Arbeit vom Schatten ins Licht.

The Berlin-based, Mexican sound artist works with analogue and digital synthesis, field recordings, and musique concrète techniques, often displaying her proficiency at playing a variety of instruments.

Mota’s large body of work includes soundtracks for radio, dance, film, and performance, as well as recordings as Cubop, Espectra Negra, and her new project We Cyborgs.

Mota explores sound as a fundamental, inherent human experience. She works conceptually, researching the political and social impact sound art has. Her research moves around sound as a collective experience as well as individual expression. She also researches bio-acoustics and the physics and the metaphysics behind sound. Her intersectional practice brings together sound, academic research, writing, and music.

She is also the founder and curator behind Urban Arts Berlin, a non-profit arts organisation based in Berlin, Germany. She has worked for many years bringing together excellent talents from all over the world. Her experience of hard work has found a fantastic global resonance in the field of sonic art. She became one of the most important curators for supporting international female composers and musicians in Berlin. She did not, however, exclude male artists.

In recent years Verónica Mota worked as a chosen sound artist in 2022 and later in 2023 as a mentor and co-host in collaboration with Peter Kirn of the Music HackLab run by the CTM Music festival. Both choosing international artists and supporting them for the collective creation of an interdisciplinary work presented as a public finale performance at HAU2 in Berlin.
