In the vast universe of sound experimentation, Jonathan Castillo Mendoza, better known as Sonoronoise, presents himself as a fearless explorer. His latest opus, "Octava C4," takes us on a fascinating journey through the traditional chants of civilizations perhaps nestled at the far reaches of our galaxy. This album surprises with its sound palette, simultaneously foreign and strangely familiar, evoking distant mantras or Tibetan chants.

The sound samples from machines are manipulated with such finesse that they infiltrate our imagination, giving way to natural tones. Copper bowls soar over captivating note blankets, conjuring sonic landscapes where toxic elements blend with an almost organic tumult. The narrator of this universe tells us a story where time seems suspended, where chimes resonate in an atmosphere charged with mystery, tinged with sulfur.

In this unique sonic mass, cosmic organs meld under the fervent breath of aquatic creatures, swimming at a speed such that only the incessant sounds of their incantations resonate. Sonoronoise possesses the art of immersing us in his unique soundscapes, revealing in the background settings as enchanting as they are mysterious.

This auditory journey transports us between extraterrestrial music, field recordings, and testimonies reminiscent of Radio France's Ocora collections. However, here, the theme is not the exploration of a country but of a planet similar to SWEEPS-04, through dematerialized chants and mantras conducive to the transcendental meditation practiced in these distant lands.

Jonathan Castillo Mendoza delicately guides us through the various gateways of his universe, maintaining a constant dynamic through the four unique pieces of "Octava C4." We encounter comets, echoes of discussions between Herbie Hancock and Sun Ra, while enchanting chants and captivating purrs of mysterious creatures lull us.

Certainly, it takes an attentive ear to grasp all the subtleties of this work, but give it a try! You might well be enchanted by Sonoronoise's cosmic charm.
